Employers are obligated by law to report redundancies to the Department of Labour. This is stipulated in the Protection of Employment Act Section 12 (3) Cap 212 of the Revised Laws of St. Vincent and the Grenadines 2009. All employers shall inform the recognized trade union, or if none exists, the employees’ representative and the Labour Commissioner in writing one month prior to the simultaneous or successive termination of the services of five or more employees.
