The National Insurance Services (formerly called the National Insurance Scheme) became operational on January 5th, 1987. It is a statutory corporation established by Act No. 33 of 1986 and its functions are executed in accordance with a number of legislations.

The National Development Foundation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (NDFSVG) is a Non-Profit Development Agency incorporated on October 26, 1983. The main purpose of the foundation is to promote self-help development among the less privileged sectors primarily through the provision of credit, technical assistance and training in the initiation and/or development of owner managed enterprises.

|9||The Youth Affairs Department
The Youth Affairs Department is housed in the Ministry of National Mobilization, Social Development Youth and Sports. The Department was established in 1985, following the result of the 1980 census. This revealed that there were at least 22,310 persons, or approximately 22.8% of the population between the ages of 15-24 years in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, who were classified as Youth. It was therefore recognized, that by virtue of the numbers, youth represented a significant reservoir of our Nation’s Human Resources, and therefore needed a separate place in the national planning process.

The Public Service Union was organized as a result of one of the findings of the Moyne Royal Commission of 1939, that the workers in St. Vincent were not properly represented and that there were no Trade Union in St. Vincent.
