Vacancy: Deputy Accountant

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Insurance Services is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Accountant.

Job Brief

The prospective Deputy Accountant is a senior role in the Accounts Division, responsible for supervising accounting staff and providing support to the Accountant. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of assuming the duties of the Accountant when required.

Key Responsibilities

- Verify and post accounting data daily using Sage 300 accounting software.
- Review journals entries related to the investment portfolio.
- Monitor securities for staff loans.
- Verify daily deposits and oversee accounts receivables.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Review the inventory system for stationery.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.

Minimum Educational qualifications and experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff effectively.
- Proficiency in Sage 300, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Qualification and Experience

- Professional designation (ACCA, CGA or equivalent).
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience.
