9 | The Youth Affairs Department The Youth Affairs Department is housed in the Ministry of National Mobilization, Social Development Youth and Sports. The Department was established in 1985, following the result of the 1980 census. This revealed that there were at least 22,310 persons, or approximately 22.8% of the population between the ages of 15-24 years in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, who were classified as Youth. It was therefore recognized, that by virtue of the numbers, youth represented a significant reservoir of our Nation’s Human Resources, and therefore needed a separate place in the national planning process. |
10 | Public Service Union The Public Service Union was organized as a result of one of the findings of the Moyne Royal Commission of 1939, that the workers in St. Vincent were not properly represented and that there were no Trade Union in St. Vincent. |
